      Milk Does Believers Good!
              I Peter 2:2-3 (ESV)
As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby: 3  If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious.
Pablo Casals was considered to be the best cellists who ever lived. When he was 95 years old, he was asked why he continued to practiced 6 hours a day. Casals replied, “Because I thought I was making progress.” Progress is the result of intentional practice. If Christians are to make progress in Christ, they must intentionally drink the sincere milk of God’s Word!
There was a commercial that aired 14 years ago that became famous for its slogan, “Milk does a body good!” It boasted of the benefits of drinking milk. Drinking milk would increase muscle and bone strength and make one big and strong! In 2018 ABC aired a research study by Prospective Urban Renewal Study about how indeed milk does a body good. It lowered the risk of heart disease and strokes and it lowered the mortality rate among those that drunk 3.2 glasses a day.
If indeed milk does the human body good, then certainly the sincere milk of God’s Word will do the bod of Christ good! There is no doubt that there are countless benefits ingesting the truth of the Word of God daily. It directs one in wisdom. It provides necessary encouragement. It transforms the lives of those who ingest it and it helps believers to grow up strong emotionally and spiritually! Peter exhorts Christians to grow up, but to do so, they must desire or long for the sincere and pure milk of God’s Word. When the last time you have desired the Word of God?
God, help me to be consistent in consuming the sincere milk of your truth, Amen
